LIFE PHILOSOPHY
Keene Winters believes that accomplishment is the culmination of moving forward step by step over time. For most people, the capstone achievement of a lifetime will be to retire—the ability to stop earning a paycheck and sustain one’s standard of living for the rest of his or her lifetime. Embracing retirement as a goal helps a person visualize his or her path through life.
Key Formative Experiences
Winters spent a year at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Marathon County campus before transferring to Madison. He completed a junior year abroad at Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms Universität in Bonn, Germany. He received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with Honors and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from UW Madison.
After graduation, Winters worked as a budget analyst for the State of Wisconsin. There, he learned to research and analyze complex issues and present them in succint written formats.
With over 20 years as an independent financial advisor, Winters has had the opportunity to experience the “financial lives” of a couple hundred people in various circumstances. Now, he can bring that knowledge to bear in helping you craft your life’s goals.
Hometown Values
There is an ethic that still permeates small Midwestern communities like the one where Winters grew up. Winters was born and raised in Wausau. A majority of his great-great grandparents were German immigrants who settled in Central Wisconsin. His involvement in the community has included fourteen years in the Jaycees, eleven years on the Board of Directors of the Fromm Brothers’ Historic Preservation Society and two terms on the Wausau Common Council. Service to one’s neighbors is expected.
Winters is currently serving in his third term as a gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Curators of the Wisconsin Historical Society. He is also a member of the Pommersche Verein of Central Wisconsin and serves as the senior archivist and genealogist for Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau.
