We believe wealth is a tool. It can create freedom, provide for the people you love, support the causes you care about, and give you greater control over how you spend your time. But money works best when there is a clear purpose behind it.
That belief shapes the way Jason works with clients. Financial planning should not leave you with a binder full of projections or an investment portfolio you cannot explain. You should understand what you own, why you own it, and how the decisions you are making today connect to the life you want to live tomorrow.
Our role is to bring clarity to those decisions. That means keeping unnecessary complexity to a minimum, explaining the reasoning behind our recommendations, discussing trade-offs honestly, and giving you the information you need to make decisions with confidence.
Ultimately, this is not simply about accumulating more. It is about making wise and intentional decisions with what you have worked hard to build.
Jason A. Yorgensen believes investing should be understandable, intentional, and built around the life a client is trying to create. He works primarily with individuals and families approaching or living in retirement, helping them make thoughtful decisions about their investments, income, taxes, and the wealth they have spent decades building.
His interest in investing began in college with a simple idea that still shapes his approach today: when you invest in a company, you are not simply buying a ticker symbol. You are becoming an owner of a real business. That perspective led Jason to develop an investment philosophy centered on understanding what clients own, why they own it, and how each investment fits into their broader financial life.
Jason studied economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before beginning his career as a financial advisor with J.P. Morgan Securities in 2010. Over the next thirteen years, he built his practice around long-term investing and lasting client relationships. He later joined Wells Fargo Advisors before ultimately choosing independence with Gateway Financial Partners in 2026, giving him greater flexibility in how he serves clients and manages their wealth.
Jason’s approach is intentionally personal and hands-on. Rather than relying solely on prepackaged portfolios, he spends considerable time researching businesses, studying markets, and understanding the investments his clients own. Portfolios are built with purpose, with each holding expected to earn its place and serve a role in the client’s broader strategy.
But investing is only one part of the picture. Jason helps clients think through how their portfolio connects to retirement income, taxes, charitable giving, estate considerations, and the things that matter most to their family. When appropriate, he works alongside clients’ CPAs and attorneys so important financial decisions are not made in isolation.
Ultimately, Jason wants clients to understand what they own, why they own it, and how their wealth is working toward the life they want to live.
Outside of his work, the most important part of Jason’s life is his family. A lifelong Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie resident, Jason was born and raised in the community he still calls home today. He and his wife, Christal, live in Pleasant Prairie with their four sons, Tanner, Noah, Elijah, and Caleb. Jason also serves on the board of the Kenosha Public Museum Foundation, reflecting his commitment to the community that has been home to his family for generations. For Jason, being a husband and father provides a daily reminder that wealth is not an end in itself. It is a tool for caring for the people we love, creating opportunities, and building a life that reflects what matters most.

Our first conversation is about you, not a presentation about us. We want to understand what you have built, what matters to you, what concerns you, and what you want the next chapter of your life to look like. There is no cost and nothing special to prepare.
From there, we organize your income sources, accounts, tax considerations, and priorities into a written strategy. We walk through the reasoning and trade-offs piece by piece, and nothing is implemented until you understand the plan and feel comfortable moving forward.
Plans change, and so do markets, tax rules, and personal priorities. We meet regularly, revisit the strategy as your circumstances evolve, and stay in communication during the periods when markets or life become uncertain.
The strongest advisor relationships are built on more than account size. They are built on trust, communication, shared expectations, and a similar philosophy about making financial decisions.
Jason tends to work best with people who value thoughtful advice, want to understand the reasoning behind important decisions, and appreciate having an advisor who takes a personal interest in their financial life.
You may be a particularly good fit if you believe in:
Many of our clients are approaching or living in retirement, while others are business owners or families who have accumulated meaningful wealth and want a more personal approach to managing it.
You do not need to know whether your situation is the right fit before reaching out. Any applicable minimums, services, and fees will be explained clearly during the initial conversation.
Choosing a financial advisor is a personal decision. These questions are designed to help you understand Jason’s approach, what working together may look like, and whether the relationship feels like the right fit.
Jason approaches investing from the perspective of a business owner. He looks beyond ticker symbols and market headlines to understand the underlying company, including its cash flow, management, competitive position, growth opportunities, and valuation. Each investment should have a clear reason for being in the portfolio and a role in the client's broader financial strategy.
Jason often uses individual companies when he believes they are appropriate for a client's objectives, risk tolerance, and financial plan. Funds, exchange-traded funds, fixed income, and other investment vehicles may also be used when they provide diversification or serve a specific purpose. The portfolio is built around the client, not a single product or predetermined template.
You will always understand the strategy and the reasoning behind it. Some clients want to discuss individual holdings in detail, while others prefer a higher-level conversation. Jason adapts the level of detail to your preferences while keeping you informed about meaningful decisions and changes.
Communication is ongoing and shaped by your needs. In addition to regular review meetings, Jason stays available when markets become unsettled, your circumstances change, or an important financial decision arises.
Retirement income planning begins with understanding your spending needs, income sources, investments, taxes, and priorities. Jason helps coordinate decisions involving Social Security, portfolio withdrawals, required distributions, cash reserves, and other sources of income so they work together as part of one strategy.
*There is no guarantee that a diversified portfolio will enhance overall returns or outperform a non-diversified portfolio. Diversification does not protect against market risk.
Jason provides tax-aware planning and can help identify strategies worth considering, including Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting, and charitable giving. He does not replace your tax professional. When appropriate, he coordinates with your CPA so investment and planning decisions are considered alongside your broader tax picture.
Yes. If there are businesses, industries, or causes you would like your portfolio to include or avoid, Jason can discuss how those preferences may be incorporated while also considering diversification, risk, and your overall financial objectives.
Independence gives Jason greater flexibility in how he serves clients, structures portfolios, and selects the strategies used in their financial plans. It also allows him to build his practice around personal relationships and the needs of the families he serves.
Jason works primarily with individuals and families who have accumulated meaningful wealth and want a more personal, hands-on advisory relationship. Any applicable asset minimums, services, and fees will be discussed clearly during the initial conversation.
The first meeting is a conversation, not a sales presentation. Jason will ask about what you have built, what matters most to you, the decisions you are facing, and what you hope an advisor can help you accomplish. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
Market declines are an inevitable part of long-term investing. Our first response is not automatically to make changes, but to understand what has changed. We distinguish between a change in an investment's price and a change in the underlying business or investment thesis. During volatile periods, Jason stays in close communication with clients, revisits their plan and liquidity needs, and helps keep short-term market movements in the context of their long-term goals.
Start with what you have built and what it needs to do next.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Bring your questions, your financial statements, or simply an idea of what you would like retirement to look like. We will talk through where you are, what you are working toward, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
